3 day course 'Sample Itinerary'
3 Day Itinerary:
Day 1, am:
Introduction and drive around the Island. Local map study, weather check, gear check and if skishing, a run up to the 'dive centre' to get kitted out. Then, if tides allow, a dry run on the mark we are to fish later with in depth study of potential fish holding area's. Learn how to identify marks and how to approach these depending upon 'rise' or 'falling' tides. 2 - 4 hours
Day 1, Lunch: (Break)
Day 1, Afternoon:
Working on some retrieves (away from the fish). Setting up plugs and tuning (advanced or basic). Casting skills session, how to use and operate lights, boga-grips, dealing with how to photograph fish in tricky situations etc., skishing gear test and practice. 2 - 4 hours
Day 1, Teatime (Break)
Day 1, Night:
Now is the time to venture out and put the days work into practice. It will be tricky and you'll appreciate why all the ground work went in. We will endeavour to cover the run we did over the dry period so as you know where the fish may be and why. This is just a basic night plugging session that can easily be adopted to bait or fly fishing should the need, or desire arise. This session could last anywhere between 4 or 7 hours..

Sleep: (ahhh)
Day 2: session 1,am, or pm.
Depending upon previous day/night session. 4 hour session including de-brief from previous day, beach reading session (includes printed material and driving). Learning about visibility, how Bass use the tides and features, how you should best use that knowledge.., another quick dry run followed by more wetsuit work and skish practice **
Food:
Day 2, session 2:
An easy daytime plugging/spinning session to include the use of the Bombarda. This can be adapted for bait fishermen and of course fly fishing. Hopefully, this session will include the catching of garfish, mackerel etc.. ** skish practice can be carried over if the need or desire is there but would include the above anyway. 4 hours or so..
Food:
Day 2, Night session.
This will include far out gutter wading skills (tides allowing, book early and with tides in mind), dark night navigation, handling and dealing with fast current, looking for 'fire in the water', fish thresholds, moon shadow, fishing light and dark area's at night. This session will include a possibly long walk, maybe over 3 miles through some beautiful terrian. Waders are optional as we would 'highly' recommend the use of a wetsuit and appropiate gear to match. This session could be 4 - 7 hours..
Sleep: (dream of Bass)
Day 3: Session 1
Depending upon what we are aiming for, this could be a full on lure session for a variety of species or (tides allowing) a full on 'skish' during daylight hours. The skish mission will be done in daylight, explained carefully, and we will fish an area over dry gutters and wait, yes wait to get cut off and picked up in the tide (sounds scary but isn't) where we will be carried INTO the shoreline over up to a 1 mile skish in water no deeper than 20ft but hopefully with the chance of fish. This will enable you to feel the current, practice manoeuvring the currents, perhaps handling fish on the move whilst floating, finning whilst fighting, navigation at low water levels, plug changing IN the water (sounds easy eh...LOL), taking pictures on the skish. Session could be up to 5 hours..
Food and rest:
Day 3: session 2
Run through in a short session all what we have covered so far. A short revision if you like. Over the 3 days, you will have covered much, much more stuff than what has been mentioned above. I can't write that much down without it becoming a 'book'. Now, we can either go do some ultralight spinning work Thin-lip Mullet (perhaps skishing for Wrasse, triggers etc), or do a mark completely different. This session needs to be less intense in preparation for the night session.

Day 3: Night
Weather allowing and 'skills acquired' allowing...
We will either work one of the previous skish runs done in daylight, by night or, if you are getting along with it well we could do one of the major mission routes like B:1, 'The Pinnacle', 'black ops' or.., the library.. These are more extreme but STILL SAFE if you have followed all the previous guidance we offer during these 3 days. If the night skishing is too extreme for you, we can tailor a night bait, fly or plug session for a variety of fish over some fantastic ground. I highly recommend the full on skish mission as you will experience something wonderful should the weather and tides come together. This session can be anything up to 8 hours..
---------------------------------------------------------
Like I said, an intense 3 days, loads to learn and do. Its not just about 'skishing' and if you don't want to get in the water, you don't have too. the course content will be adjusted to suit YOUR needs so don't worry.
Any specialised gear required for these trips can be 'made' or hired at low cost but please indicate your desires if you can before you book. Of course..., when you see the Island, you may change your mind and I am somewhat flexible in this.
I would also suggest that you are realistic about what can happen on these courses. Yes, you will learn something new, yes, i can take you to where fish are likely to be, i cannot magic up fish. I will say though, that the chances of a good fish is very real especially as you progress through the 3 days/nights.

Get on that email myfish@jerseybassguides.com or call me on 07797 724181 to discuss your tailor-made 3 day intense course. I'm not using the word 'intense' lightly. It will be. If 'Intense' isn't your bag think about booking shorter easier sessions. Depending upon tides and weather, we may have to swap stuff around to suit. The content won't change too much though.
Anyone attending will need to sign off on a disclaimer stating they are are of reasonable general heath. IF you do have any heath issues, say so, we'll adapt. I have been there and done that guys so I know. I adapted.
Approx £575 for the 3 days (exclusive of stay, wetsuit hire, food etc). If you so desire, a full package including a stay could be arranged from this side. The above price is for upto 2 people. Any further participation would need another guide and the price would need to be adjusted accordingly.
Thanks and look forward to seeing you on the 3 day course..
Should you decide to stay on to complete the 5 day course or perhaps pick up from day 3 later on, that is an option to consider. We would pick up 3 day course guys and start you right off from day 4 after a short revision session.
For the adventurous ...The sky is the limit really.
