From dusk till dawn ( HRF/ LRF sessions) Part 1

Ok, before we start on this mammoth article please....

Read the articles that came before to make sense of it all. Jig fishing, OTD, the KVD method, in fact tons of stuff has all just seamingly dropped into place to give the foundation for what follows. Quite frankly, the possibilites are starting to scare me.

Anyway...

Following on from Kevins first HRF Wrasse, A small group of us fished the SW of Jersey looking for more.

3lb 10oz taken on Zoom Fluke Tail Goby in (Alabama Crawfish).

I quickly followed that up with a 2.5lb Rockfish.

And another to a Megabass Hazedong.

We fished some very shallow stone gutters with Danish retrieve. Bar 1

Kev had some good Wrasse and fishing buddy Paul B had a few good ones too before Kevin and I headed North for a mark we'd been itching to fish for some weeks. The wind finally gave us a break and the swell was backing off. Perfect for a quick night assault.

We've plugged this mark at night in past years and taken a few nice fish. However, armed with 5 and 7g jigs, 3" soft lures and LRF/HRF OTD and KVD techniques, we had no idea of what was to follow. It even blew us away...

Another OTD fish. Bar 2

One of mine, OTD again. 5lb of silver on a 3" experimental soft lure. We are playing with modified jigs and lure designs right now to maximise the technique. It IS paying off.

Biggest one of the night was 7 1/2 lb. It might be this one, we don't know, lost track.

Kev takes another.

And another. We cycled soft lures with stuff we know works to keep things in check. Our modded stuff caught the biggest fish.

Another one of mine. I ended the night with 11 Bass inc the one from the West coast earlier.

No idea of the order of these fish. They just kept coming. However, we tried retrieve techniques and came up blank. OTD and KVD swimming was order of the session.

5 or 6 of mine were over 5 1/2 lb.

Big bars taking little OTD soft lures. Not one took a bite bigger than 3" all night.

One of the little uns but not small. On 8lb braid, 12lb FC leaders and a 3.5 - 20 g dropshot rod. Awesome.

Back on the modded stuff, up in size straight away. Bites were unmissable after the LRF practice we've had through the winter.

I think my smallest of the session. Caught swimming KVD style.

One of Kevins 6 Bass taken. This one, his smallest, again taken swimming KVD.

I know I said this was from dusk till dawn. We did actually go home mid early morning. ALL the Bass bar the first taken out west came in total darkness. So, we went out today on another mark. After what happened last night, nothing could top it right...?

Well, over 100lb of OTD Pollack to 4lb LRF, Wrasse taken LRF, Mackerel and sore arms later.....

Come back for part 2 of this article in a few days. I'm still processing all the pics of which we have some clonkers taken on 6lb braids and 3.5g jigs. Jeez, I can't keep up...

JIGS RULE.

N:B the experimental stuff is exactly that. It is not shown for a reason. It will be made available to our LRF/HRF crew guys as we get the design closer. They are a bit vulnerable at the moment and we are still getting it right. However, watch this space and please, remember to come back for part 2.

Cheers from Keith, Kev and all the guys who helped this stuff really get moving.

P:S, sorry, forgot to mention, more Bass in todays session. LOL
